Tech Week: Digital Wellness

Woodridge Middle School

Detailed information about the Tech Week events will be sent home with students along with a consent form. Parents and/or guardians are encouraged to review the information and return the signed consent form to your student's teacher by Friday, June 21. Please note that students will not be permitted to attend the event without the consent form. Parents and/or guardians are invited to attend the event with their students.

Prize drawing information: each student will receive a ticket daily to write their name and class. This ticket will be surrendered as they attend the event of the day. Winners will be drawn on Friday, at the last day of Tech Week.

Event Details

MONDAY

9am - 10am / Room 105

"What is Digital Wellness?"

Speaker: Professor Edward Munroe

Info: Professor Munroe will give a brief presentation on the subject. Q&A wsession will follow. Homework, in the form of questionnaire about how individuals react to social media posts, will be sent home with the students.

TUESDAY

1pm - 3pm / Auditorium

"Social Dilemma" Movie Viewing

Info: Viewers will be asked to fill out a questionnaire afer the movie about their knowledge on big tech companies and social media creators what is their understanding and opinion after watching the movie.

WEDNESDAY

9am - 10am / Room 105

CyberSecurity Presentation and Lecture

Speaker: Officer William Schultz

Info: Officer Schultz will share examples of how simple it is for strangers to lure young people and gain their trush and how easy it is for our personal information to be stolen.

THURSDAY

9am - 10am / Room 105

Digital Mindfulness

Speaker: Rosanna Mendoza, RN

Info: Ms. Mendoza will discuss the meaning of digital mindfulness and its many benefits. She will demonstrate several different mobile applications and virtual reality devices that are currently available to create an immersive mindfulness practice experience. 

FRIDAY

2pm - 4pm / Auditorium

Healthy Eating / Smart Farming

Info: Staff, faculty, students and their families will visit stations that promote healthy eating and to learn more about smart farming. How do our farmers use AI and other advanced machinery in their farming practices. Speak with different counselors about the importance of building dinner table habits with your family.

3:30pm Prize Drawing:
